This project was to establish two small allotments at local primary schools.

This is a project to establish a small allotment at St John's RC Primary School in Skelmersdale and at Douglas CofE Primary School in Parbold. At St John's we have asked Groundwork to do the work under direct control of the Headteacher and the head has also a small amount of money available to pay for additional resources required to make this project work. At Douglas Primary School we have asked the school to do all the work directly with assistance and advice from Alan Richardson, a retired Educationalist and a very keen gardener from Dalton. Both schools will produce reports and photographs and these reports will be posted on this website.

The current programme will not be completed until the beginning of 2011 when a full report will be received from both schools outlining the development, the uses the results and the benefits of having a school allotment. The trustees will meet after this to decide if they wish to continue supporting this type of activity.
