The following organisations have expressed an interest in our plan:
Myerscough College
For learning and appropriate agricultural and horticultural course.
Lancashire Adult Services
For work with people who have learning difficulties and who have been through the various other facilities and systems available in West Lancashire. This will be a developmental stage of their development and will attempt to provide skills which will assist them to secure independence.
Moving On Skelmersdale
This project works closely with people who have health problems or who suffer from confidence problems extremely successfully and has several clients who have gone onto interesting employment or further studies.
West Lancashire Community Safety Partnership
This is a joint operation between the Council, the Police and the Probation Service. At some point discussions will start to see if the Care Farm can assist people who are ex-offenders.
Skelmersdale Food Initiative
This project is very much interested in Healthy food and living in our communities. If the Care Farm does grow food then Sci-Fi will be at the forefront of assisting with the distribution of the healthy foods.
NHS Central Lancashire formerly the PCT
There is a great deal of interest from this organisation as they are responsible for the health issues of all types within the area. There are several departments who are in discussions about how we can assist the NHS Central Lancashire achieve its goals in West Lancashire.
Newburgh Parish Council
It is in everyone's interest that the local community is fully aware of what we are doing in their patch. To this end when the Management Advisory Committee is established this body will be invited to send a representative.
Growing Well
This is a Care Farm in Cumbria based at Sizergh Farm close to Kendal. The Manger of this project Beren Aldridge is happy to assist with the development of the Red Apple Care Farm. Beren is also joint Chair of the National Care Farms Initiative.
West Lancashire CVS Volunteer Centre
The Volunteer Co-ordinator reports that there is a great deal of interest in Volunteering for this type of work and will start recruiting when contracts have been exchange at the end of January.
Other Organisations to be contacted and involved:
TWL is the local contractor for work with long-term unemployed and Red Apple will see how it can assist with this work.
North West Ecological Trust has been interested in this type of work and operates out of Aughton.
Groundwork, who are very much involved in Environmental Projects in West Lancashire.
